A note from the Principal

A note from the Principal

This week, we have enjoyed 2 special Primary school celebrations: International Day of Peace and the Wai Kru Ceremony. Through these events we have been talking with the children about the importance of being kind by showing compassion and respect. This links directly to our Global Citzenship value.

In MFL, the students have been demonstrating that understanding in multiple languages! Bien hecho!

Have a super long weekend ahead!

Student Wellbeing Survey (PASS)

As part of our student welfare provision, our Y4-6 students will take part in a survey about their attitudes to school and learning.

You will also receive a letter giving more information about the PASS survey (Pupil Attitudes to Self and School) and how it helps us to support student learning and wellbeing.

Despite the acronym PASS, this is not a test! No preparation is required, and we want our students to enjoy the process.

Residential dates for November 2024 Visits

Class splits are now confirmed.

Letters about the Residential programme will be sent home next week.

Save The Date – Swimming Gala – Year 4

The PE Department is excited to announce the first interclass sports event of the year!

The Year 4 Swimming Gala will be held on Thursday, 10th October, from 7.40 am to 9.45 am.  Further details will be shared in the coming weeks.

The event will take place at the 25m pool, and we warmly encourage parents to come and support their children.

As a reminder, if your child is unable to participate in a swimming lesson due to illness or other reasons, please contact the PE teacher directly, rather than the class teacher or Year Group Leaders.

Learning In Year 4

For more information about the Learning in Year 4, please visit our Year 4 Curriculum Page.

PE

Children should come to school in their PE kits on the days that they have PE lessons.
When your child has swimming lessons, they should come to school with the swim kit on and their uniform on - NOT their PE kit.
All students are expected to get changed into their school uniform after a PE lesson.

PE KIT:

Swimming lessons require black or Patana swim kit, swim hat, goggles and towel. Long sleeved rash vest / suit optional.

Handling: Normal PE kit, hat and water bottle.

Remember that students are expected to wear a different pair of shoes for school and for PE lessons.

Birthdays

Parents should not bring in class gifts, balloons, bubbles, whistles, games, drinks etc. Your child's class teacher will politely ask you to take these home with you. We enjoy celebrating birthdays by sharing a birthday treat such as donuts or cakes.

We are a NUT FREE school. Please when ordering birthday treats double check before bringing treats on the campus.

Many toppings offered by some donut shops have flaked almonds in their toppings and peanut butter fillings. If you bring these in, unfortunately, we will have to send them home.

  • Individual treats can be brought into school with your child in the morning.
  • Please agree a time with the teacher in advance.
  • Children will be expected to eat any birthday treats outside of classrooms.
  • Parents can join in the celebrations.

The following Year 4 children have celebrated their birthdays this week:

  • Kiyara
  • Yoyo
  • Jade
  • Victor

We wish you a very happy birthday!

Please complete this form if your child is going to be staying with anyone other than their immediate family. This helps us to contact the appropriate adult should there be an emergency.
