KIND: Peaceful Problem Solving
We might celebrate World Peace Day at Patana but, as we all know, it’s not always peaceful in Y1! At this age, children are still learning how to use kind words and actions, and to socialise peaceably with friends. It takes many years to learn self-control and to develop empathy for others.
Common upsets – how many of these are familiar at home?
PANTS!
We recently introduced your children to the NSPCC’s Pantosaurus Rex at school, and it was a big hit! Pantosaurus is a fun, friendly dinosaur who helps kids learn about body safety in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
Through songs and simple lessons, your children learned the "PANTS" rule, which teaches them that their body belongs to them, and it's okay to say no if something doesn’t feel right.

Year 1's first whole school assembly
This week the children in Year 1 attended their very first whole school assembly! It was very exciting to walk over to the Sports Hall and join all the other Primary and Secondary students. During our assembly there was live music and we had a big celebratory welcome to our new academic year!
This week your child will bring home a KS1 Code of Conduct. Please read through this together, sign and return to your classroom teacher.
We are... on summer holiday!
The Year 1 team would like to thank all our parents for your support and positivity throughout this academic year.
