PANTS!
We recently introduced your children to the NSPCC’s Pantosaurus Rex at school, and it was a big hit! Pantosaurus is a fun, friendly dinosaur who helps kids learn about body safety in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
Through songs and simple lessons, your children learned the "PANTS" rule, which teaches them that their body belongs to them, and it's okay to say no if something doesn’t feel right.
Children created their own fun pants which you may see displayed in class or find in your child's bag.
We encourage you to continue this conversation at home to reinforce these important messages. By working together, we can help ensure your children feel confident and safe.

A note from the Principal
This week, we have had a fantastic time exploring numbers! Long-time Patana collaborators
Andrew Jeffrey and Liz Gibbs have helped make our Maths Week truly inspiring.
Students have enjoyed problem-solving activities, hands-on explorations,
timetable competitions, and even a Maths magic show!
We are also delighted to invite you to a Parent Workshop on Tuesday at 8am,
where you can learn more about how to support your child's maths development.
Do not forget next week is a short week for us, with school closed on Friday.

Positive Behaviours - Positive Attributes
Our students may be familiar with our whole school values of Well-Being, Learning and Global Citizenship. This poster makes these three strands more accessible and age appropriate.
We also introduced the matrix of positive behaviours and attitudes, organised under the three strands of Safe, Curious and Kind. Clearly shared expectations help us to promote and model the behaviours that we want our students to absorb as they progress through school. Please join with us in sharing and modelling these positive behaviours and attitudes.
UPDATE: Change to routine for days when it is raining
From Monday 9th September if it is raining in the morning children and their adults are encouraged to enter the Year 1 building to share books together quietly in the area inside the doors.
At 7:20am we ask adults to say goodbye and leave the building so children can tidy up and find their classrooms ready for their day.
If it is raining at the end of the day, please collect your child from the sheltered corridor outside of the Primary Office or outside the library for 1A and 1J.
Our Morning Routines
Thank you for encouraging our Year 1 students to be independent by lining up and coming into school with their teachers after drop-off.
We understand that it can be difficult sometimes to say goodbye in the morning, but we encourage all our families to say goodbye in the garden and allow children to enter the building independently.
Please do speak to your class teacher if this routine is challenging in the morning and they can support.
A huge thank you also to all our parents and carers who have helped establish expectations by modeling the behaviors associated with the first and second whistle signals.
- 1st whistle - stop and wait
- 2nd whistle - move to your mat
Should you arrive late to school, please bring your child to the classroom and hand them over to our teachers. If the class has already departed for a specialist lesson, parents and carers need to walk their child to the correct location, after dropping their child's bag in class. This is so the students remain supervised by an adult. Thank you for your support with this.

Junk Modelling
We are currently looking for recycling to add to our Junk modeling boxes as part of our Playful Learning. If you have clean recycling we would love to take it off your hands. Please send it in with the children to pass on to the teachers.

Playground use - before and after school
Students are not permitted to use any of the climbing or play equipment before 7:30 a.m.
There is no staff supervision in any play area after 2:30.
The accompanying adult is therefore responsible for the safe supervision of the child.
We encourage parents and family employees to take children straight home at the end of the school day.
Preventing the spread of colds and flu
Please help us to prevent outbreaks of cold or flu as we head into the rainy season.
Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered. Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.
Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase. If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.
A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.
Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system. The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.
When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma. If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th
Allergies and Dietry Requirements
Please ensure your child/ren's medical information is fully up to date on our systems.
Should your child suffer from critical conditions related to their diet they are no longer able to eat any birthday treats brought into school from outside.
We encourage parents now to provide a small box of dry snacks/treats that their child can eat, which the class teacher can keep, and use during any celebrations in class.
Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School and also check with the class teacher for any other dietary requirements of the class.
Missing Shoes
If your child has come home with a pair of shoes that aren't theirs, please could you return them to school. They have the owner's name label inside. Please see the image below for reference.
School Shoes
Primary students wear plain black school shoes as part of their uniform.
All shoes require at least a wide strap to keep the shoe firmly in place.
Your child will need a different pair of shoes (trainers) for their PE lessons.
Name labels
Please ensure that all of your child's personal items (hat, uniform, water bottle) are clearly labelled with their name and class code. The Tiger Shop sells some iron-on and sticky labels:

Year 1 birthdays
Happy birthday to:
Takuto (1W)
We can not give out party bags or gifts
Please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school. If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts, or cupcakes.
