A note from Mrs McCormack (Primary Principal):

1 December 2023

It is hard to believe it is the 1st of December today! Term 1 has galloped by at an amazing speed and I am still not used to warm winter months! Needless to say, as the holidays soon approach we are all excited for the festival celebrations ahead.

On Tuesday this week, we hosted our 2nd parent workshop on assessment and reporting. Much of the session was dedicated to looking at our new ways of reporting attainment and progress and the new report template. Our teachers are busy writing reports at the moment and these will be shared with you in the last week of term.

Have a lovely weekend and don’t forget next Tuesday is a public holiday!

General Information

Preventing the spread of influenza (newsletters November 23)

We currently have a number of children absent with influenza.

Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system.

The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.

Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered.

Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.

Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase.

If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.

A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.

When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma.

If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th

Gift Giving

Giving gifts to family and friends is a loving, kind and generous thing to do. Sadly, we cannot do this in school for a number of reasons. Edible gifts can cause problems for some families, and we do not allow sweets/ candy in school.

Please do not bring in gifts, sweets, candy canes or toys for the class.

Many of our students give gifts to families and children in need through our year group charities, and this we completely support.

Many thanks for your support.

Swimming Costume Donations

If you have any old children's swimming costumes, we would really appreciate them being donated so that we can give them to the communities of Khlong Toey when they come to use the facilities at school.

Snacks before ECAs

Sometimes the students are hungry after a long day at school and before their ECA begins.

Teachers allow the students time at the end of the day to eat their snack if they need it.

Please make sure this snack is in their bag for them to eat independently without support.

If you wish to see your child before their ECA please email the class teacher in advance so they can hand them over to you whilst ensuring all other children are safely taken to their ECA providers.

Birthday celebrations

The following students are celebrating their birthdays next week...

Aaryash (1J) and Adriana (1R). A very big happy birthday to you all!

Reminder: We cannot give out party bags or gifts - please keep these for any sort of celebration that you do out of school.

If you would like to send in some birthday treats for your child to share with their class, please arrange a day with your child's class teacher. We will only be able to manage individual items like brownies, doughnuts, or cupcakes.

Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School and also check with the class teacher for any other dietary requirements of the class.
