International Day 2024
What an incredible celebration International Day was!
A heartfelt thank you for your support and participation; the children had a fantastic time!
International Day is not just a wonderful celebration; it’s also an invaluable learning opportunity for our children, particularly in fostering acceptance and global citizenship.
Celebrating Diversity: Children learn to appreciate different cultures, languages, and traditions, which enriches their overall learning experience.
Building Global Awareness: By exploring various countries, children gain insights into how people around the world are both similar and unique, fostering empathy.
Promoting Inclusivity: International Day encourages children to embrace differences, creating a sense of belonging for everyone.
Sparking Curiosity: Learning about new cultures ignites children’s curiosity about the world, inspiring their interest in languages, geography, and traditions.
Thank you once again for making this event so special!
Did you know we have 27 different nationalities in Year 1?
A note from Sarah McCormack (Primary Principle)
11 October 2024
The highlight of this week has to be our truly spectacular International Day. It was a beautiful celebration of our culture and community, and we cherished every moment—from the vibrant parade and cultural performances to the amazing food hall.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible, especially to our PTG for their tireless dedication and hard work.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Sarah McCormack
Parent Volunteers
We are ready and happy to welcome parent volunteers into Year 1 from 28th October.
Our focus for volunteers is to support children with 1:1 reading.
If you would like to join us, please fill out this form stating your availability.
Please note, it is possible that you will not be working with your child’s class.
As part of our Student Safeguarding, we require any parent who may be in direct and regular contact with students to complete a three-step process before offering their time.
- Attend a short presentation about in-school Safeguarding
- Sign the Parent Code of Conduct (updated annually)
- Sign a Self-Disclosure form confirming that you have never been subject to any allegation or investigation with reference to children or young people.

Change to mornings arrangements - rain / bad air
Dear Year 1 parents,
If it is raining, the air quality is poor, or there is a lightning alarm in the morning, please say goodbye at the doors to the Year 1 building. Encourage your child to walk down to the PD room, where they will find a selection of toys and books. Staff will escort the children to their classrooms at 7:30 AM.
Thank you for your support whilst we find the best provision during rainy season.

Safe Curious Kind
You may have seen these new posters around the Primary school. We recently shared the attitudes and behaviours that we want to help every student to learn and develop as they move through our school. These attitudes and behaviours are grouped under our three key values; Safe, Curious and Kind.
We want these positive words, thoughts and actions to support and strengthen your child’s holistic development as they move through Primary and into young adulthood. Please help us champion these three key values by referencing our matrix of positive behaviours and attitudes in conversations with your child. The matrix is also available in Thai.

A Message From PTG
Playground use - before and after school
Students are not permitted to use any of the climbing or play equipment before 7:30 a.m.
There is no staff supervision in any play area after 2:30.
The accompanying adult is therefore responsible for the safe supervision of the child.
We encourage parents and family employees to take children straight home at the end of the school day.
Preventing the spread of colds and flu
Please help us to prevent outbreaks of cold or flu as we head into the rainy season.
Children with cold or flu (influenza) symptoms should be kept at home until they are completely recovered. Even when the main symptoms have gone, your child may still need time to return to full strength.
Please do not send your child back to school too soon, even if they are no longer in the contagious phase. If your child is still coughing or sneezing, please keep them at home and limit their contact with other children.
A child who has a fever should be kept at home until ‘fever free’ for a minimum of 24 hours.
Influenza is a serious and contagious infection that affects the nose, throat, and respiratory system. The virus is commonly spread through droplets in the air, allowing infection to spread quickly.
When unsure, always seek medical advice, especially if a child has a chronic condition e.g., asthma. If Influenza is confirmed, please send a copy of the medical certificate to Nurse@patana.ac.th
Allergies and Dietry Requirements
Please ensure your child/ren's medical information is fully up to date on our systems.
Should your child suffer from critical conditions related to their diet they are no longer able to eat any birthday treats brought into school from outside.
We encourage parents now to provide a small box of dry snacks/treats that their child can eat, which the class teacher can keep, and use during any celebrations in class.
Please remember we are a nut-free Primary School and also check with the class teacher for any other dietary requirements of the class.
School Shoes
Primary students wear plain black school shoes as part of their uniform.
All shoes require at least a wide strap to keep the shoe firmly in place.
Your child will need a different pair of shoes (trainers) for their PE lessons.
