Y2.2 - Making Compounds

A chemical formula is like a simple recipe.  It tells us all the molecules which bind together to make the compound.

You may already know that water is known as H2O.

A sticky atom compound

This formula tells us there are

- 2 Hydrogen atoms (H2

-  1 Oxygen atom (O)

Your task

Using the Chemical formula below (handouts available) see if you can make some compounds using the Compound Creator.

Scientists have learnt through the Scientific Method, a combination of prediction, experimentation and observation, we can make some very useful compounds when we mix the right elements together.

Your Task

Enter the Chemistry laboratory and find a Compound Creator block

Use the Chemical Formula sheet to make as many different compounds as you can

Collect them in your inventory

Finally, record the most interesting compounds you've made.

Use the formula to draw the compounds you have created onto the paper sheet.
