Good morning FS1 and FS2: click the links to find the video from your class teacher!
We have had so much wonderful learning shared from home that we have now created a 'Sharing Our Learning' gallery on the main page so we can keep on adding more!
These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!
This week in Foundation Stage we are going to become....
If you missed yesterdays learning you can go back to find out more here:
Yesterday, we were exploring lots of science experiments with instant reactions and results. Scientists also notice change over a longer period of time. There are so many exciting and interesting chances to notice in our world that take place over time - over hours, days, weeks, months, years, even centuries! Today, we are going to spend some time noticing and wondering about these changes.
Time Lapse Science!
Below are some time-lapse videos to explore change over time. Watch these for inspiration, then use some of the ideas below to plan and set up some longer-lasting experiments. Try thinking about what times of day to observe any changes and how to record them. Remember to think like a scientist by saying:

What has inspired you?!
You might like to:
- Set up a planting and growing experiment.
- Notice how shadows change during the day. Here’s a meaningful and fun way to track shadow change. Are shadows different in the morning? The afternoon? Evening? How are they different? Why do you think that might be? www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/483292603762812169/
- Observe how the moon changes at night - Is its shape changing? Is it in a different position in the sky? Can you see it in the day sometimes? You can wonder together as a family “I wonder why that might be happening…”
- Go into your garden and see what you notice.
- Anything else that sparks your curiosity!
Share ideas and remember the key here is to hold back and not give away the answer! The joy here is in revelling and wondering out loud! Challenge yourself to see how long you can wonder with your child without going to find the answer. The longer you can go, the more you will have stretched your imaginations and wondered together and thinking like an inquisitive scientist!
Thai Translation:
Do you remember the 'Wormy Wonderings' experiment in FS last term? We noticed lots of changes as the worms helped to turn the banana skin into compost!
You can go and do some research later if you like!
Yesterday you voted to see more of one experiment... I wonder which was the winner?
So here goes....
We love to see your discoveries!
Taking it further....
Once you have wondered lots with your children, you might have generated some ideas you’d like to research. You could look up in books and use the internet to find out more about your children’s burning questions. Why does the moon change shape?! Why do spiders make their webs that shape? Why do plants have different flowers?! What are flowers for?! We can’t wait to read about your wonderings and research on ILD!

Sensory Play - the dough disco!
‘Dough Disco’ is a fun activity which combines the use of play dough with a series of hand and finger exercises designed to improve fine muscle control. The movements develop children’s fine and gross motor dexterity and hand-eye coordination. This activity supports the development of handwriting skills.
Thai Translation
To do this activity, give your child a ball of play dough then copy the actions as the music is played. To the beat of the music, the children copy the hand movements that they see as they are demonstrated on the video. Various ways to manipulate the play dough is shown and it encourages exercising important hand and finger muscles.
