Good morning FS1 and FS2: click the links to find the video from your class teacher!

We have had so much wonderful learning shared from home that we have now created a 'Sharing Our Learning' gallery on the main page so we can keep on adding more!

These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!

This week in Foundation Stage we are going to become....

This week we are going to be Little Scientists! Scientists use some skills that are really important for learning such as observing, wondering, predicting and reviewing. They are also very curious, they are always asking ‘why’ and ‘what if’ questions which leads to lots of exciting experiments and new learning. We would love for you to research some experiments, become curious, wonder and predict what might happen and then test your ideas.

Explanation of this week's learning for parents...

Scientists make lots of marvelous mistakes when they explore new ideas. They don’t just copy what others have done, they use others’ ideas to create their own. Sometimes these create something amazing the first time they try but often it takes lots of little changes to create something exciting or find out something new.

Scientists go on journeys just like the characters in your stories last week. There is a beginning; where they have an idea, a middle where they find they have some problems to solve, before possibly finding out what the end result is. They keep wondering and this could last for days, weeks, months and even years!

Some of you may remember meeting a real scientist, Ruben Meerman. Here is a video of him showing some Bangkok Patana students some super science.

Self Regulation!

This video explains the importance of self regulation and provides examples of games to play:

Self-regulation is the ability to calm yourself down when you get upset, to adjust to a change in the environment or expectations and to handle frustrations without outbursts.

Children need to be coached through situations they find difficult to learn how to respond appropriately with an adult guiding them to practice more effective responses.

Here is a fun way to start thinking about how to regulate yourself through movement activities:

First listen to this song, encourage your child to dance and jump around. You can join in too. Then bring their attention to how their body feels.

FS1 - Sock Puppet Sharing!

You have a try! Collect and display a few small objects. Bring out your sock puppet and carefully help your puppet to name one of the objects in his sound talk language. The toy then sound-talks the word leaving a short gap between each sound. You can say the word in sound talk language and in your language, too!

Adults, this can be a very tricky skill. Please stay positive and provide as little or as much support as your child needs!
