Happy New Year Everyone!
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Good Morning!
Wake Up Song!
For the next two weeks we are going to be immersing ourselves in Traditional Tales. Stories are one of the best ways for children to develop their language skills, learning new words and phrases.
This week you can help to encourage your child to repeat phrases from a story such as 'Run, run as fast as you can. You cant catch me I'm a Gingerbread man.' You could do this in many ways. Try retelling the story together, using toys to act it out or performing the story with family members!
Your child can explore this as they wish, with your encouragement to do lots of talking to practice the storytelling language.
Watch The Gingerbread Man here -
You can tell the story in English or your own language if you’d like!
We would love to see a clip of your storytelling in ILD!
Extra Challenge!
Can you use storytelling signs to help you to re-tell your story? Here are some for you to try:
Snack Time
Can you help to prepare a delicious, healthy snack today?
Sensory Play!
For this sensory play add soap to water and encourage your child to freely explore the properties of soap.
A hand whisk (like the one in the photo above) will froth up the bubbles and will be great for exercising fine motor muscles in your child’s hands and arms.
You can add shampoo, bubble bath or dish washing soap, or a bar or soap, sponges, cleaning brushes, tooth brushes.
To give this activity context your child could ‘wash’ items like baby clothes, face towels, cars, trucks, bikes, dolls etc.
Here are some examples for you to choose from. Choose something follows your child’s interests.
