Nursery Continuing Learning Page Thursday 2nd April

Welcome to the Nursery learning page. Don't forget to register each morning on the opening page.

Good Morning!

We love to see what you are learning at home!

Thank you for sharing your special moments at home. Here are some of them...

Can you find pictures of your friends?

Using ILD

ILD is the platform Foundation Stage use for sharing learning. Sending pictures and videos here allows teachers to give personalised feedback on children's learning. A gentle reminder that teachers are unable to provide feedback via email or Teams chat. A parent guide of how to use this platform is in the document below.

These are some ideas for learning at home today. Parents please remember that there is no expectation to complete all of these! Keeping a routine for your child and maintaining contact with school are the most important thing.

Wake Up Song

"Action songs not only develop language as children learn the words but also support the development of your child's gross motor skills such as balance, strength and coordination. "

Top Tip - Expand to full screen on all video links to get the best view!

You can display this page onto your television too to get an even better view!

Today's story time is..

Today’s story is one of our favourites; Where is Spot? Spots Mum is looking for him for his dinner, but he is hiding. There are lots of opportunities for repeated phrases and the use of different positional language; inside, behind and under.

What can you remember about the story?

What animals did Spot’s Mum find when she was looking for Spot?

This is an old clip because Spot has been a famous little dog for many years! It's a classic!

Due to potential copyright issues, please do not download or share this story - thank you.

Snack Time

It’s time for a snack. Can you help your grown up to peel/ chop your snack? This will help to develop fine motor skills and new ways of doing things.

Mathematical Development

Can you collect containers from around your house. You could play with soapy water, porridge oats or rice. Which container holds the most? Which holds the least? You can add different sized spoons and pans. You could add ice to the water and look at the changes as it melts.

Mathematical development - shape, space and measure concentrates on developing early concepts of size and shape. Our nursery children enjoy filling and emptying containers, whilst doing this they can use the language which shows their understanding of size; heavy/light, big/small, more/less.

It is also an opportunity for our children to observe what happens around them to the;ice, water, bubbles.

Use the words ‘it is full, it is empty, it holds the most, it holds the least”

We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child engaging in sensory play.

Here's another idea from yesterday's page. Maybe you didn't try this yet?

"Exploring media and Materials which also has links to Communication and Language. We love finding links in our learning”

Here is another recipe for clay dough or cloud dough. It has a very interesting texture but is super easy to make!"

Lunch Time

Can you try two different vegetables with your lunch today?

Which did you like the most?

Have a lovely lunch FSN. Remember to help tidy up after.

Today’s song time is we have...

Nap Time!

If you usually have a nap after lunch, have a lovely sleep!

This is the music that we use in the sleep room everyday to help to settle the children to sleep:
