Below are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!

Wake Up Shake Up

This week we are ...

Inquiry-based learning helps our children to stay curious and motivated to keep learning. Look at the phases that inquiry-based learning might take:

Being a 'Little Explorer' can take many different forms and, just like our play, it is open-ended. Whatever your child is interested in, and wherever they want to take their inquiry, they are welcome to.

Learning from real life experiences is always a wonderful way to motivate children. They may wish to find out more about something they found interesting during the school break, or perhaps go out and explore their garden, park or wider environment. They might be interested in learning more about their family, community or a culture further afield.

To support your child in becoming a 'Little Explorer', read our Explorer themed stories resources, you can use these ideas to get you started, or go ahead and follow your child's existing interests.

What are you exploring this week?

Physical Development

Phase One Phonics -Rhyming

Rhyming songs are a key element of early phonics as children are exposed  hearing different  sound and word  patterns. This is also a lovely maths opportunity! Do you have an old clock at home that your child can play around with, moving the handles along with the song?
