ILD Support For Parents...

ILD Support For Parents

We have very much enjoyed looking at the videos and photos that you have been uploading to ILD. We understand that there have been some technical problems with the app. As a school, we have received communication from ILD stating that videos and photos are taking longer to process currently due to the whole of the UK also being in lockdown. They are currently experiencing problems due to the increased amount of data traffic. We are waiting for them to improve their systems, but in the meantime, please be patient with us as we respond to your observations. They are taking longer to arrive on our servers than normal, so it may take a day or two before they become visible to you on your app.

Did you know that you can access ILD via the portal on the internet at https://portal.interactivelearningdiary.co.uk/? When checking via the portal, your observations are often visible sooner.

If you are having technical difficulties using your app or loading observations, you can also contact ILD directly at support@interactivelearningdiary.co.uk

We hope this helps!

Wake Up Song!

Our Favourite Stories!

Pete the Cat read by Ms Jane. This is another one of our favourite stories and inspires us to get messy!

...and the animated version too...

Pete the Cat realised that it’s ok to get messy! Can you get messy too?

“Sensory play encourages children to mindfully explore, experience, investigate, create and observe different textures, sensations and aromas using their senses, while developing fine motor and hand eye coordination skills.”

Here are some ideas that you can do at home with household ingredients. All these ideas can be enjoyed inside or outside - enjoy the sensory fun!

Cornflour

Mix with water gradually to create a gloop.

“How does it feel?”

“It feels... sticky, slimy, wet, dry.”

Cocoa powder and cornflour sensory tray

Can you wash the muddy animals?

Shaving cream

Shaving cream is soft, cool, wet and fluffy. Spray it onto a surface, into a tub and explore using hands, spoons and different tools.

“How does it feel?”

“It feels... soft, cool, wet, fluffy.”

Add in some paint or food colouring to explore colour mixing. Can you use your finger or a cotton bud to make a pattern in the foam/ paint? Painting with cotton buds helps to practice fine motor skills and pincer grip in a fun way.

Ice

Make rainbow ice. Use food colours or paint to make different coloured ice cubes.

Mix colours to see what other colours you can make or paint with them.

“How does it feel?”

“It feels... wet, cold, freezing cold, icy, smooth.”

Oats

You can add water, measuring containers, pans, spoons. Add diggers, cars or other toys to enhance the play. By adding containers, measuring equipment and toys you can begin to categorise the objects according to properties such as shape or size. Can you use the words, “full”, “empty”, “small”, “medium” and “large.” Maths is all around us!

We would love you to upload an ILD observation of your child exploring different materials, let us know the words they have used to describe the different textures. .

Snack

Before snack, remember to give your hands a really thorough clean, as you might choose to eat a healthy snack with your fingers. What healthy snack did you choose today?

Think about how it feels to touch..

Is the banana skin smooth or bumpy?

Is the watermelon wet or dry?
