Little Earth Helpers
Today we are very lucky to have our visiting author Claire Culliford read one of her own books! Claire Culliford has written lots of books in the ‘Little Helpers’ series to help children to understand a range of environmental issues. Today’s story is about air pollution. This is something that we experience a lot in Bangkok. There are some days at school when we can’t play outside because the air pollution is so bad. This makes us very sad.
วันนี้ พวกเราโชคดีมากๆเลย ที่มีแขกคนสำคัญ ที่จะมาอ่านหนังสือที่เขาเป็นคนแต่งเองให้พวกเราฟัง เขาชื่อว่า แคล คูลลิฟอร์ด
แคล คูลลิฟอร์ด แต่งหนังสือในชุด “ภูตน้อยช่วยโลก” ไว้มากมาย เพื่อให้เด็กๆ ได้เข้าใจปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่มีหลายรูปแบบ และหนังสือที่ แคลจะมาอ่านให้เราฟังในวันนี้ จะเกี่ยวกับปัญหา มลพิษทางอากาศ ที่เราพบเจอบ่อยมากๆในกรุงเทพ มีบางวันที่เราไม่สามารถที่จะออกไปเล่นข้างนอก เพราะมีมลพิษทางอากาศเยอะเกินไป เรื่องนี้ เป็นเรื่องที่ทำให้พวกเราเศร้ามากๆ

What can you do to help?
What can you do to prevent air pollution? The next time you need to use your car have a think…..Could you walk instead? Or, could you ride your bicycle? Did you know that the BTS train in Bangkok does not produce exhaust fumes? So, it is much better for us to take the train, than to drive - it is usually quicker, too! Why not send a video of you walking or riding your bike? When we can go back to school, maybe you could make your journey on the BTS!
เราจะสามารถช่วยป้องกันมลพิษทางอากาศได้อย่างไร? หยุดคิดกันก่อน ถ้าเราจะใช้รถยนตร์ครั้งต่อไป….เราสารถเดินไปสถานที่ ที่เราจะไปได้ไหม หรือ เราสามารถขี่จักรยาไปได้ไหม? เด็ก รู้หรือไม่ว่า รถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอส ไม่ได้ปล่อยควันไอเสีย มันเรื่องเป็นสิ่งที่ดีกว่ามากๆ ที่จะเราจะใช้บริการ รถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอส แทนการขับรถยนตร์ และ รถไฟฟ้าสามารถทำให้เราเดินทางได้เร็วกว่ารถยนตร์ด้วย เด็กๆลองส่ง วีดีโอในตอนที่เด็กๆเดิน หรือขี่จักรยานกันมานะคะ ถ้าหากเราได้กลับไปโรงเรียน เด็กๆอาจจะขึ้นรถไฟฟ้ามาโรงเรียนก็ได้นะ
Did you know that lots of plants help to clean the air around us! Why not grow some air purifying plants in your house or even plant a tree in your garden if you have one?
เด็กๆ รู้หรือไม่ว่า ต้นไม้ทุกต้นสามารถช่วยฟอกอากาศ ทำให้อากาศรอบๆตัวเราสะอาดได้ เด็กๆมาช่วยกัน ปลูกต้นไม้ที่มีคุญสมบัติในการช่วยฟอกอากาศ หรือปลูกต้นไม้ทั่วๆไป ไว้ในบ้าน หรือ ไว้ในสวนของพวกเรากัน

This activity focuses on your sense of taste. What would you like to have in your smoothie? Make a list of the fruits that you want in your smoothie. Choose 3 from what you have available at home. Put it all in a blender, blend it up and drink it. How does it taste? You can put your recipes on ILD for your friends to try.

Do you remember Ms Julie's amazing sound talk with Robbie the Robot? Robbie taught her to chop the word into smaller pieces to hear all of the sounds. Now it's Ms Louise's turn to sound talk with her robot but she cannot understand him! Listen to the robot segment, look at the picture and help the robot find the things they need for a journey to space. When you’re finished, maybe you can sound talk some things you need for your adventure to the jungle, to the beach, or to climb a mountain.
