Edible Slime

Please ensure you work with an adult on this recipe because it gets hot and we don't want you to burn yourself.

You will need:
  • Coconut Oil
  • Marshmallows
  • Icing Sugar (Sometimes called Powdered Sugar)
  • Food Colouring
  • Edible Glitter/Sprinkles - Optional

Method:

Wash your hands.

Heat coconut oil and marshmallows at a low temperature in pan.

Stir.

Wait for the marshmallows to change into a stretchy, sticky paste.

Add some icing sugar- start with 1 teaspoon-this will change the consistency so it’s less sticky.

Take it out of the pan- check it’s not too hot first!

Play with slime - eat it if you want.

You can add edible glitter, food colouring and sprinkles if you wish.

Oobleck Slime

You will need:

  • 2 cups cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • Food coloring (optional)

Method:

Mix 2 cups of cornstarch to 1 cup of water into a bowl.

Mix the cornstarch and water until your oobleck is formed.

Tip: If you would like to color your oobleck, add your food coloring to your water and then mix with the cornstarch.

If you find the mixture is a little too watery and not forming into a solid when you pull the oobleck out of your bowl then add more cornstarch.

If you find the mixture is not dripping like a liquid, add a little more water. Just keep experimenting until you get the consistency of oobleck.

Take a potato masher or spoon and hit the top of the oobleck quickly.

Pick up the oobleck with your hands and form a ball.

Then let go of the ball and watch it melt into your hands like magic!

Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book called "Bartholomew and the Oobleck", because, well, oobleck is funny and strange. Oobleck is a special type of slime with properties of both liquids and solids. If you squeeze it, it feels solid, yet if you relax your grip, it flows through your fingers.
