Getting into the garden is a great way to enjoy some fresh air and learn more about how plants and food grows. These two fun projects are a great way to keep your green thumbs busy.
Grass Heads
Egg Shell Sprouts
What you need:
- Cress/sprout/micro-green seeds
- Two eggs
- Paper towel
- Cotton wool
- Sharpies to decorate
- Clear plastic drinks bottle
- Scissors
How to:
- Boil the eggs until they're hard boiled. Take the tops off gently. You can eat the boiled eggs - try them with toast soldiers - yummy! Clean the inside of the eggs gently, so they don't break.
- Draw a face on the egg shells using your sharpie, you can stick on googly eyes too, if yu have them.
- When the pen has dried, wet some paper towel and put it in the bottom of the egg shells.
- Wet some cotton wool and put it on top of the paper towel. Make sure there is a gap between the cotton wool and the top of the egg shells or yoghurt pots.
- Put some seeds on the cotton wool and press them down gently.
- Put your egg shells in a sunny, warm spot - try a kitchen windowsill.
- You can make a "greenhouse" to put over one of the egg shells or pots. Ask an adult to cut the top off a plastic drink bottle. Put the bottom half of the drinks bottle over the top of your egg shell. The inside of your greenhouse will be warm and damp.
