A time capsule is an airtight container, which inside you place a range of items which people in the future or your future self can open to learn about you and the time you are living in right now. You can then bury it near a landmark or place in a special hiding place.
You will need:
An airtight container - it might be a tin, a can, a jar or a box.
Ideas of items you might like to place in your time capsule include:
- A newspaper or clippings
- Family and pet photos
- Money - some coins and notes to show what they are like in 2020
- A toy or game you enjoy
- Copy of a book or DVD you love
- Sample of fashionable clothing or accessories in 2020
- Sample of electronic items used everyday in 2020
- The packaging of your favourite snack food (clean it first and do not include the actual food item as it may rot over time and ruin your capsule).
- A sample of your handwriting
- A picture or piece of art you've created
- A print of your hand and foot to show their size
- A letter to your future self
Check with Mum and Dad first before placing any valuables in the time capsule.
