This week there has been an air of excitement in Year 1 as we started to learn a little more about the mysterious Goblin King. On Monday, we learnt that he was angry although we didn't know why and that the fairies wanted to invite him to a party. We decided that perhaps we should invite him to Patana and so wrote letters to him. One group even made a map for him, so that wouldn't get lost.
The students had many ideas about why he might be angry.....maybe he was hungry, perhaps he had no friends or he hadn't been to school to learn some manners!
We were delighted when the Goblin King sent us a video and he even set as a challenge.
1T accepted his challenge and came up with many questions to ask him. They kept their fingers crossed that he would come to see them and answer some of them.
While they waited, I set them another challenge and asked them to predict what some of the answers to their questions might be.....
Here are their ideas about what he could look like....
Math strategies
In our maths lessons this week, we have been focusing on trying some new strategies to add numbers together.
We have tried bead strings.....
and empty number lines. 1T did an amazing job.
Step two of our sculptures.
Being helpful.
We had so many examples of how 1T are helpful and kind at home - thank you for sending all of the lovely photos in for our display.
Underwater worlds
Fun, fun, fun!
Comments
I saw the goblin king myself this morning and he seemed much happier after having an audience with 1T :-)
