Tuesday 21st April

Our good morning videos will be streamed live by class teachers today! Check your Teams calendars to find the time!

Sharing the learning!

Look at what your friends have been learning this week:

Sharing the learning this term - parental permission required

Please let your child's class teacher know if you are happy for some of your child’s ILD observations to occasionally appear on our FS CSL blog. We will not share ILD observations on here without your permission.

Wake up and shake up with Ms Rachel and the singing Sarahs & friends!

Singing nursery rhymes and songs to children can help develop their language and communication skills from an early age.

These two wise monkeys teach us a song about 5 little monkeys. Can you join in with them?

Birthday corner!

There are no birthdays in FS today!

These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!

This Foundation Stage project is a great challenge that can be stretched out over the whole week. It is broken down into different phases, each one focusing on a different aspect of the design process.

We challenge you to become a…

You can choose how quickly you want to complete the phases of this week’s challenge. You may want to do one phase each day or you may want to do several phases in one day, it all depends on how motivated your child is - learning at home shouldn't be hard work for them or you!

If you missed Miss Sarah's 'Introduction to Little Engineers' video yesterday click the Link Below to go back to Phase One on Yesterday's Learning Page:

There are lots of video's, web links and images there to get you started.

If you've already done your research it time to for......

Phase Two  - Play and Explore!

Find any balls that you have at home. What kind of ball will work best? Explore with anything that you have at home: tubes, pipes, boxes, bottles, trays, etc… Play around with how your ball moves through different things that you have at home and place them in different ways.

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

Shape,Space and Measure:

  • Can I describe the shapes of the everyday junk using mathematical vocabulary: Tube: Cylinder

  • Can I use language related to size, measure and quantity: This tube is the longest… I need one large bottle and one small bottle - I have 3 pipes, 2 cups and 5 lolly sticks. I have 10 things all together.

What Characteristics of Effective Learning are we developing here?

Phase Three - Plan!

Plan: Choose what kind of ball run you want to make

Decide on your theme (if you want one)

Write a list of the equipment you need

Mr Raj explains here:youtu.be/rVyZ_nMC79w

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

  • They safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting, design, form and function.
  • They make observations and explain why some things occur (forces and motion)
  • Read / Write: Can I write a simple list of things that I will need? (FS2) Can I draw and label a design? - (FS1) - Adult can write it down whilst the child says the words. Can your child tell you any of the sounds in the words eg: “b - o - x “

Begin to build your marble run….

Do lots of experimenting throughout as you discover what works well and why!

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

•Handles tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control.

•Uses simple tools and techniques competently and appropriately.

•Selects tools and techniques needed to shape, assemble and join materials they are using.

More to come Tomorrow! Good Luck Little Engineers!

Snack time - which food groups have you eaten today?

Mathematics - Numicon at home!

For this mathematics learning we are concentrating on matching numerals to objects. You may find it helpful to print out the Numicon shapes and cut them out. You will also need paper, pencils and scissors if you want to make the number cards too - but you can just draw a track on a larger piece of paper if not.

Lunch time - have you got a balanced meal with all 5 food groups?

Physical Development - animal movement!

Animal walks are great to use as part of movement breaks between activities in online learning as they help children to refresh their brains, regulate and concentrate.

Watch the videos and copy the movements

Then choose 3 animals of your choice and invent your own movements for them.

Video your movements and post them on ILD. We can share your movements on the blog for your friends to copy.
