Try Something New Challenge
Today is a ‘can do’ day.
I would like you to spend the rest of this learning time trying something new. It could be anything new you have never tried before.
•A new food you have never tried before.
•To ride a new bike or a new outside toy.
•To try a new physical challenge.
•To do something you have always been a little bit scared of.
I tried to roller blade!

In recognition of our Patana Tiger mascot, we will celebrate Tiger Spirit Day on Friday 8th October.
Having a collective Tiger Spirit Day gives students, parents, teachers, and business staff a sense of pride, loyalty, unity, and belonging, and these are feelings that will stick with us long after our time at Patana.
These senses that school theme days can stir up in us go beyond just feelings. Mascots create unity between generally diverse groups within an international school. The bonds that are formed by this unity transcend normal social dividers. Instead of IB students, senior students, right down to the Foundation Stage students, there is a common consensus of what it means to be a Patana Tiger! The pride that comes from this unity can motivate and inspire students to do their best, both in their Patana school learning and in their extra-curricular activities. This can also be an incentive for students to get involved and participate because of the awareness and recognition it brings.
Peer interaction and collaboration start in the early years and helping your child to understand the value of working well with others is the key to encouraging cooperation in group activities. As practitioners, we know that children who play together are more cooperative and supportive, and have better communication skills. We can begin to teach your child about the importance of collaboration by taking time to explore what it means to be a Patana Tiger!
Include your child while you are running errands to teach about collaboration. When you are out, point out what’s happening, who key people are, and what they’re doing. For example, if you are at a grocery store, point out what the stock person is doing as she places items on the shelves. Children at this age notice everything, and you can take advantage of this by pointing out the roles that people play, and how they have to work together toward collective goals. In doing so, you are showing teamwork in action.
Invite your child’s friends to join your family on outings or just an afternoon at home. When children are given the freedom to engage in play together, it helps them learn how to work well with others, make decisions, and solve problems. Make sure that playdates with other children involve actual free play, and not too many structured activities or playing video games or watching television, as this will help your child use his or her imagination while learning about teamwork. If you support your children's play, you will help them develop abilities that they will need as a future citizen of the world and you will help them be better prepared to cooperate with peers, resolve conflicts, and build and maintain friendships.
We are looking forward to Tiger Spirit Day and embracing all things Tiger in the lead up to the big day. We hope this really helps to foster a sense of community and belonging in your child.
We really love to see videos and photos of what you have been doing at home. The best way to share this with us is via the Seesaw App. You should have received communication about how to download and login to the app. If you have not received this, please email the ISIT helpdesk- helpdesk@patana.ac.th.
