Welcome Back Everyone!

Sharing the learning this term - parental permission required

Please let your child's class teacher know if you are happy for some of your child’s ILD observations to occasionally appear on our FS CSL blog. We will not share ILD observations on here without your permission.

Wake up and shake up with Ms Rachel and the singing Sarahs -plus some special guests!

Singing nursery rhymes and songs to children can help develop their language and communication skills from an early age.

Can you make your own music? Ms Sarah and Ms Rachel show you how to do it!

Birthday corner!

There are no birthdays in FS today!

These are some ideas for learning at home today. A reminder that you don't have to do all (or any) of these today. Maintaining a routine and a connection with school are the most important things!

This Foundation Stage project is a great challenge that can be stretched out over the whole week. It is broken down into different phases, each one focusing on a different aspect of the design process.

We challenge you to become a…

This presentation explains it in more detail:

Watch Ball Run Mania for Inspiration!

You can choose how quickly you want to complete the phases of this week’s challenge. You may want to do one phase each day or you may want to do several phases in one day, it all depends on how motivated your child is - learning at home shouldn't be hard work for them or you!

Phase One: Enquiry - Research and Find Out

Research - Look for different experiments / stories / projects that you find online -We provide some links and stimulus - ask experts - books etc..

What are we learning?

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

  • What can you use technology for? e.g. research using the search engine ‘Kiddle’,
  • We are learning how to find out information from a range of different sources

We are also developing Characteristics of Effective Learning:

Phase Two  - Play and Explore!

Phase 2: Play and Explore

Find any balls that you have at home. What kind of ball will work best? Explore with anything that you have at home: tubes, pipes, boxes, bottles, trays, etc… Play around with how your ball moves through different things that you have at home and place them in different ways.

SAGA Exploring Example: https://youtu.be/YRxdQNFgIZw

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

Shape,Space and Measure:

  • Can I describe the shapes of the everyday junk using mathematical vocabulary: Tube: Cylinder

  • Can I use language related to size, measure and quantity: This tube is the longest… I need one large bottle and one small bottle - I have 3 pipes, 2 cups and 5 lolly sticks. I have 10 things all together.

Phase Three - Plan!

Plan: Choose what kind of ball run you want to make

Decide on your theme (if you want one)

Write a list of the equipment you need

Mr Raj explains here:youtu.be/rVyZ_nMC79w

Early Years Developmental Indicators:

  • They safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting, design, form and function.
  • They make observations and explain why some things occur (forces and motion)
  • Read / Write: Can I write a simple list of things that I will need? (FS2) Can I draw and label a design? - (FS1) - Adult can write it down whilst the child says the words. Can your child tell you any of the sounds in the words eg: “b - o - x “

More to come Tomorrow! Good Luck Little Engineers!

Snack time - let's be scientists and learn about the different food groups!

Learning about the food groups will teach children how eating different foods helps them to stay healthy.

Can you draw or create your own delicious healthy meal which has foods from all the food groups? We can’t wait to see your wonderful healthy drawings and creations on ILD!

Lunch time - have you got a balanced meal with all 5 food groups?

Phonics Time!

FS1 - mouth movements: regular movements support articulation and an awareness of rhythm.

Turn on the radio and have a mouth dance! Exercise your mouth in tune to the music - Can you blow? Suck? Stretch and wiggle your tongue? What shapes can you make with your mouth? It might be fun to do your dance in the mirror to catch your funniest faces! There are more mouth movement ideas here.

FS2 - exploring rhyme
