Spam Email Warning

Our thoughts: the contents of the image below have been circulating amongst our students over the past few days within their social networks on their mobile devices, and will no doubt cause anxiety, stress & fear. It would be a good idea to talk in advance with your children about what steps they should follow if they receive an email like this. There breadth of issues classified within e-safety are considerable, but can be categorised into three areas of risk:

1) content: being exposed to illegal, inappropriate or harmful material

2) contact: being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users

3) conduct: personal online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm

In all cases the following steps are recommended:

1) immediately stop what you are doing and close the lid of the laptop or switch off the monitor or put the device into standby

2) go and find an adult (teacher, parent or guardian) an explain what has happened

3) do not return to the device unless with the adult

The adult should contact brta@patana.ac.th for further advice.

If your child has received this email (or similar) then please explain to them that what is written is not real, that it was made up by someone just to try and scare other people, like a scary movie is made up by people to scare other people, and that it is not true.
